March Ladybug Ink Swap

Each month, my stamping group gets together to watch demos, stamp, swap samples, and visit with each other. It's one of the perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and each month I look forward to the meeting. I look forward to it so much, that when I was still in grad school I would leave class early on meeting nights so I could make the meeting. (I was still late to the meeting though.) I missed last month's meeting due to the birth of my daughter, but I was super excited about this month's meeting. I was even more excited that I was able to participate in this month's card swap. I know that when baby sleeps, I should be sleeping too, but why sleep when you can stamp? :)

Each month there is a different them for the card swap, and this month's theme was monochromatic color scheme. I actually had no idea what a monochromatic color scheme was, so this month's swap taught me something new. (If you don't know what it is either, check out what Wikipedia has to say about it.)

So here's my swap for this month. I've been in a pink mood lately (must be all the little girl stuff I'm around), so I picked pink as my main color. Also, since we're still in the Sale-a-Bration period, I decided to use some Sale-a-Bration (SAB) products in my card.

Monochromatic Color Scheme Swap Card Details:
  • Use Pixie Pink as the card base and a strip of Pretty in Pink. You can then attach a strip of the Pretty in Pink heart paper from the SAB Welcome Neighborhood Designer Series Paper pad.
  • Stamp flowers along the side of the card using Versamark ink. I used the flowers from the Tiny Tags stamp set (available from the Occasions Mini Catalog).
  • Use the Scallop Trim Border to punch a border on the Pretty in Pink card stock strip.
  • Stamp the greeting in Melon Mambo on Whisper White. I used the "Happiness Always" stamp from the SAB Whimsical Words stamp set. Punch the greeting out using the wide oval punch and distress the edges using either your snips (be careful) or a paper distresser.
Sponge Melon Mambo on the edges of the oval.
Sale-a-Bration will be coming to an end next week, so hurry on over to my website to purchase some awesome product and get free stuff. Remember, for every $50 you spend, you get a free item from the Sale-a-Bration catalog. Also, there are some perks for signing up during Sale-a-Bration as well. If you would like to become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and join the Ladybug stampers, shoot me an email (carmelita.wasson@gmail.com) for more information. You don't want to miss out on this fabulous opportunity.
